Excuses #3 (Sample)

“Hi”

It was the first thing that left my mouth, probably because I was still sleepy. I didn’t have a great time last night, and I usually don’t sleep well anyway, so it’s normal for me to still dream while awake. There to say, I was not truly convinced that the big slim gray creatures, looking at me with their big green-blackish eyes were real.

They exchanged curious looks after my greeting and some of them let weird noises come out of their tiny mouths. Yep, my imagination is really on fire this morning, I thought with sarcasm.

“Can I help?”, I insist on doing some talking, but they insisted on not answering me, again. They were only doing the same high-pitched noises. Which, kind frankly, I found very impolite of them.

Maybe there was some Google Translate for aliens.

Probably not.

They looked at me very confused, and I decided I had enough. Getting up from my bed and reaching my white robe, I turned to them and simply offered “Coffee?”. Again, they didn’t answer, but they followed me down the stairs to the kitchen. I realized now that one of them was carrying a notepad, and scribbling on it. I called him Charlie. They saw me in pyjamas, so I think we passed on a first-name basis.

They followed me during all my morning routine, except during my bath where I demanded some privacy, of course. - Beth was the only one I allowed to enter, she was nice. -, they helped me choose my clothes and I was ready to enter my car when I see it. Parked just behind my car, was a big metal shiny giant egg shape thing, which I guessed was the spaceship where they came from. I politely asked them if they could remove it, so I could take my car and go. They didn’t understand me, so...

“Hold on a second”, said suddenly the voice on the other side of the phone. “Are you really, really, gonna use aliens as an excuse to not come to my party?”

“Of course not!”, I replied outraged, despising my fame of being an introverted person. “They are terrible drivers and hit my car, which now is broken, therefore, I cannot come to the party because of the car, not the aliens - they are ok. Charlie is even trying to fix it, but I don’t think he’ll be able to…”

The phone hung up as I saw Charlie went clumsy running after the rolling down tire.
